Description: Nevers was a major center for the manufacture of French faience in the Italian style. The designs tend to be whimsical and exuberant. These shoes which were probably salts would be perfect for as ring holders or just decorative. They are marked for the Antoine Montagnon factory which operated from 1875 to 1899. Of note, one shoe has been repaired. Please see pictures.
