Description: This fine listing features a New WOOD CHOPPER guy Whirligig for the outdoors, handcrafted by an 81-year-old craftsman that loves to keep busy. The propeller spins in the wind, making the wood chopper leans forward and back while trying to split the log. It measures approx. 23" long and about 11" tall (the propeller is 16" long). It’s all made of wood and has metal fasteners and gears. Painting is original folk art style, with imperfect hand-painted charm. A mounting pole (19" long with insert rod) is included along with 3 mounting screws and instructions. There is a hole in the base of the whirligig to insert the mounting rod (see pics), so it pivots as the wind changes direction. Decks and fences are the easiest mounts, but a pole or sign in a garden works well as long as it is sturdy. This also serves as a "scarecrow" in a garden when there's a breeze! It is hand painted and sprayed with a clear water-resistant lacquer (not water-proof) for all-weather wear. We don't recommend leaving it up in a strong wind or heavy rain situation. The propeller could actually make it airborne! It does best in daily, light breezes. A delight to watch! Please ask any questions before buying.
