Description: New & Unsmoked Ser Jacopo Divina Proportione S2 Sandblast Apple Silver Tri-Band The Divina Proportione series was the final series completed by Giancarlo before he passed away. He'd become interested in the concept of the Golden Ratio which is discussed in a book called De Divina Proportione by Luca Pacioli and illustrated by Leonardo Da Vinci. These pipes all of classic design have been "fine tuned" using the Golden Ratio. Each has a tri-ring silver band. This one also has the Greek letter Phi inlaid into the stem as the symbol used by mathematicians to indicate the Golden Ratio.De divina proportioneTitle page of 1509 editionAuthorLuca PacioliIllustratorLeonardo da VinciCountryRepublic of VeniceLanguageItalianSubjectGeometry, ArchitecturePublisherPaganini (Venice)Publication date1509 This particular piece is an Aple with a round shank which tapers down its hand made stem. The pipe has quite spectacular straight grain which rings the bowl. It has two nomenclature panels on either side of the shank, followed by the silver Tri-Band stem of the Divina Proportione series. The handcut and tapered stem has the double logo of Ser Jacopo and their Divina Proportione series. This is a pipe is a beauty with its straight grain and classic shape. The S2 designation indicates it is a sandblast (sabbiata) and is in the middle range of Ser Jacopo's color range. Their sandblasts can be black, which can have an S designation but just as often there is no S stamp at all/, Then there's the S1 which is often a dark brown with darker highlights and then the S2 such as the example here and finally the S3 which is unstained and is also known as Spongia. The Spongia stamp is a fairly recent addition. During the first 20 years or so, the unfinished sandblasts were stamped S3, and are quite small in number compared to the S/S1/S2 models The pipe pictured is the pipe you will receive.Purchase is for the pipe only, no box and no sleeve. The stem of this pipe is handmade from Lucite / acrylic / plexiglas and will not tarnish. The pipe will be packed with the stem separated from the bowl for safety and shipped insured. This pipe DOES NOT use a filter. All pipes are shipped insured. I was the importer and distributor of Ser Jacopo Pipes in the USA from their founding in 1982 and for the succeeding 35+ years. Almost all of the Ser Jacopo pipes I am listing, or have listed, were made during Giancarlo Guidi's lifetime. Please feel free to ask any questions regarding this pipe or about the Ser Jacopo range. Note: Each square in the photo is .5 inch by .5 inch.Ser Jacopo pipes are handmade by Ser Jacopo in Pesaro, Italy.
