Description: Civil War Store Card for Philip J. Seiter's Meat Market in New York CityFuld NY630BQ-2a (copper) R-6 AU+ Without close inspection, this token has the appearance of a Choice UNC tokenMr. Seiter obtained store card tokens from an unidentified token maker. Three custom dies were prepared, two similar obverse dies with different horn orientations and a reverse die that was paired with both obverse dies for token production. The die pair used to strike this token is extremely scarce and these tokens are normally encountered on copper planchets. Brass tokens struck from the other obverse die are the variety usually encountered for this merchant and this is a common variety. Many extremely rare numismatic strikes are also known for this merchant using all three dies in combination with a couple of stock dies and struck in a variety of metals. This is a very nice, lightly circulated example of this extremely scarce copper variety. Besides the common brass variety, this is the only other variety intended for use in commerce. Without careful inspection, the vibrant cartwheel luster on this token gives it the appearance of a Choice UNC token.Shipping is free. Should this token fail to meet your expectations, it can be returned within 30 days for a full refund. Sales tax, if applicable, is collected by Ebay and submitted directly to state authorities.
