They do require 6 Double-A batteries, so keep that in mind before getting started. Nonetheless, I would purchase them again. They have a lovely design and are pretty pleasant to grasp. Your left hand adjusts the focus on the front, and it's a simple process. The top has a simple on/off switch—simple buttons for shooting a photo or video. The zoom controls are conveniently positioned on the top and are easy to locate. The provided strap isn't my favorite, and I'll probably update it, but the night vision goggles themselves are well-made, and there's nothing I'd alter about them. The sharpness of these goggles astounds me. When you're out at night, these night vision goggles may help you out. In the dark, you can see your target. The clarity of what you're seeing is remarkable. I've never seen night vision goggles that can display a picture in such fine detail. Another excellent advantage is that you may use these binoculars during the day. It is as simple as turning off the infrared function. The display is sharp and clear even during the day. These binocular is nicely constructed. A multi-layer coated optical element enhances light transmission while reducing glare. Even the zoom capability will aid in a clear and efficient view of your goal. Because these are my first pair of Night Vision binoculars, I was concerned that they might be challenging to use. They aren't, though. For the price this is a nice night vision unit for keeping an eye on things out in the country.These binoculars are the real deal. When I purchased these binoculars, I anticipated seeing a few hundred feet or so in the dark. I wasn't expecting such high-quality images. Without a doubt, I will be using these for outdoor night sports, hunting, and camping.There are multiple ways to adjust the image quality. I used it to inspect the sump beyond my house, which is completely dark at night, and it allowed me to see more than 600 feet.The binoculars include a memory card, so all you need to do is insert six AA batteries. My advice is to immediately access the menu functions and adjust the resolution (the default is low res) and date/time. I didn't have very high expectations for these, but after using them I am actually pretty impressed with the performance.The ability to see into darkness and the clarity of the binoculars was surprisingly good. I first tested them out by walking into a closet, which was entirely dark with the exception of a small amount of light seeping under the door. I was amazed at how well the binoculars are able to function in what seemed like near total darkness to my eyes. I did later test these outside for distance. The digital zoom feature works well for both light and dark viewing, but this has trouble with auto-focusing unless there is a blank backdrop. The night vision has a fast refresh rate and adjusts pretty quickly.The IR illuminator the binoculars puts out does not seem to work as well as other night vision binoculars I have used in this price range.At night, I could see an impressive amount of detail when looking at objects approximately 20-40 yards away when using the the IR illuminator and digital zoom together.The maximum distance I was able to see with the night vision binoculars was about 100 yards. At that distance, the image became quite grainy, but I was still able to see the posts and individual strands of barbed wire on the fence I was looking at.The only downside to the binoculars is they are not sensitive enough to use without the built in illuminator and the the brightness of the view screen cannot adjust like another pair of these that I have. Even with the light cast from an almost-full-moon and ambient lighting coming from surrounding buildings and street lights, it cannot get an image without using the IR illuminator. With that being said, I understand these binoculars are not a $4,000 dollar PVS-14 night vision set and happily accept the limitations for the price tag.Overall, I would definitely recommend these binoculars to anyone wanting affordable night vision. It's a really entertaining way to see in the dark around your house or campsite. I've had a lot of fun using these to watch nocturnal animals behind my house.
