Description: No Date Seated Liberty Half Dollar Lowball 1854- 1861 Pre- Civil War So here's what we know, it's either variety 1 or variety 3, as we know there's no motto above the eagle, nor rays around it. We also know it's mint mark is O for New Orleans, and it has large letters on the reverse, leaving only 19 date possibilites from 1842-1861. The earlier dates (1842-1853) were 13.36 grams while the later dates (1854-1861) were lighter at 12.44 grams. This specimen is only about 10 grams due to wear, so although it's not perfect science, due to it's significantly lower weight, I would conclude it's likely a later specimen, concluding that it's from 1854-1861, leaving only 8 date possibilities, and a mintage range from the highest (1858-O) at 7.294 million and the lowest (1857-O) at 818,000. If you have any further thoughts to possibly date this specimen more precisely, my dm's are always open! Review photos for condition and details. Feel free to ask questions or send offers!
