The bright & colorful floral shows a multitude of flowers and is repeated 7 times. Inter-spaced between these is an equally colorful scrollwork of reds and yellows. The gold on the rims makes a great contrast. This appears to have been kept as a cabinet dish only for decorative display. CONDITION: The condition of this gravy boat is excellent. We can find no defects or damage. We can find only the very slightest wear to the gold on the rims. There are no utensil scratches. There are no chips, nicks, cracks, repairs or hairlines. DIMENSIONS: The oval underplate is 9" by 6". The boat is 7 5/8" spout to spout by 4". The overall height of the set is 3". HISTORY/MARKS: Morimura Bros. formed the trading and decorating company in 1876 which evolved into Noritake. Noritake Company has a rich history of producing porcelain china all the way from January 1, 1904 when the Nippon Toki Kaisha Ltd - the forerunner to the present Noritake Company - was formed in the village of Noritake, a small suburb near Nagoya, Japan with its huge kaolin clay sources. The first reported U.S. registry for a Noritake backstamp for importing is 1911. The backstamp on this piece is a yellow & green M-in-Wreath Mark with "Japan" under it.
