Description: In very good condition. This is a Top-Quality CD of 1131 train order images from the Northern Pacific Railway. These train order images cover the entire Northern Pacific system. All are dated before March 3, 1970, when the NP was merged into Burlington Northern Railroad. Included are 3 station lists, showing each available location and the number of train order images for each location. There are also clearance cards, lineups, and messages scattered throughout this CD, as sometimes crews received messages and register checks with their orders before departing the origin terminal. There are not a lot of these, but I felt they fit in with the train orders, as all of these items govern train movement in some manner. Also included are 8 complete employee timetables which I believe cover the entire Railroad. One of these is a joint terminal timetable with C&NW in the Twin Cities area. The rest cover all Northern Pacific trackage, from Duluth, Minnesota on the east end to Seattle, Washington out West. These ETT's are shown as follows: Fargo Division #79 dated 4-29-1962, Idaho Division #79 4-29-1962, Lake Superior Division #83A 11-8-1964, Rocky Mountain Division #79 4-29-1962, St. Paul Division #79 4-29-1962, Tacoma Division #79 4-29-1962, Yellowstone Division #79 4-29-1962, and NP/CNW Joint Terminal timetable No. 337 4-29-1962. This covers the trackage in the Twin Cities Area, jointly owned by both Railroads, with Northern Pacific having controlling interest. There are 80 pages total in the set of employee timetables included here. Each has its own folder for easy reference. Also, there are 255 different train-order locations represented here. Dates of the train orders range from 1890 to March 2, 1970, the day before the NP was merged into BN Railroad. There are a couple of orders included also, that were issued on this date advising of the new timetables of March 3, 1970 that were becoming effective on that date. It is interesting that none of these orders mention the new timetable issues as Burlington Northern. Included are images of a few clearance cards which accompanied the train orders. If I had complete sets, and all orders were readable, I included the clearance card to make the set complete image-wise as well. The line-ups add a bit of interest too, as they mention many NP (and foreign) engine numbers, as the train orders do also. Both passenger trains, the Mainstreeter and the Vista-Dome North Coast Limited, trains 1 and 2, and 25 and 26 respectively, lasted until Amtrak took over on May 1, 1971. There are many orders in this CD issued to these passenger trains, and a few others that were pulled from service many years before. The 12 pictures shown are just a small sampling of the quantity and variety of locations and operations unique to this long and very historic Railroad. A concerted effort has been made, to give the best (some enhanced) images possible. The train orders in this CD show many engine numbers, operators' names, track conditions, operating procedures, and all kinds of meets and flag orders, all consistent with train-order operation. This is some of the best Railroad reading anywhere. Please review my other 80-plus train order CD's and be confident you are getting equally top-quality items, from many other Railroads.
