Description: Hello. I am selling my O Scale 2 Rail (OS2R) Atlas O Premier SD-45 locomotive decorated for the Southern Pacific in their Speed Lettering scheme. This is brand new. I ordered this when it was announced, but since I already have a true MTH SD-45 in the DRGW colors, I decided to sell this one. I got this a couple of months ago. Atlas O has a lot of trueness to the MTH tooling. They seem to have added some more announcements and this thing really smokes nicely - if that is your thing. Lighting is great. Cab lights, and ditch lighting. I programmed the DCC cab address to 8595. Sound is by PS3 and is pretty good, IMHO. There is a slight distortion, which is unfortunately all too common for those out there with audiophile ears. The colors are very spot. The gray is very good and the scarlet is very accurate also. One concern is that Atlas, in their infinite wisdom, and no doubt to save time and money, used the 3R trucks. If you look at the closeup of the underside, you will see that they tried to grind off a little bit of the 3R connection to the swing coupler. I know, I know - we in 2R never catch a break! If I decided to own this and run it, I would probably get my Dremel out and grind that further down. Having said that, I had no issues running on my layout with 72” radii and #4 turnouts. Just thought I would be totally honest on this situation. If you have a radius of 60” or smaller, you will have some issues running this unless you grind those down. Just be careful to mask everything so the little metal pieces do not get into the mechanism. When I did this to two other MTH engines, it took me about 5 minutes to grind them. So not a huge deal. OK, nuff said. The loco runs really well. No binding or jerking. Has a bit of a “hot rod” gearing, but that is a characteristic of 3R, which as has been stated, is a big part of this unit’s heritage from Atlas and before that, from MTH. Original box of course. Note that a sunshade had fallen off when I deboxed. I glued that one back on prior to deciding to sell. But I think I did a good job of that. Thanks a lot for your consideration! On Nov-10-24 at 07:08:59 PST, seller added the following information: NOTE: There have been a few questions about the clearance between the trucks and the couplers. This is a nothing burger! The worst possible case is you can send it to Atlas where they will fix it - most likely for free or a very small charge. But chances are, it will run just fine. So please do not fret about that. I am brutally honest about my sales on Ebay. Also - the price. These are selling for over $600 from a dealer. It is a brand new item so I discounted it $100. I may not be a smart businessperson, but I am honest and I like to see O Scale 2 rail expand. Thanks!
