GENEALOGY BUFFS will find a list of 1888 county officers and businesses, and biographies of John Saxton and Archibald McGregor, news editors; Major (later President) William McKinley; John Hancock Klippart; Gen. Isaac R. Sherwood; Joseph Medill, editor-in-chief of the Chicago Tribune; Lyman Humphrey, govenor of Kansas and first proclaimer of Labor Day; and Gen. Charles F. Manderson. The Howe history covers the development of this area until about 1890, while excerpts from the WPA book, give a nostalgic glympse from a 1940 vantage point, including interesting historical notes, especially as they relate to sightseeing possibilities. A 1933 look at the turbulent history of newspapers in Stark County, brief sketches on Mt.
