Oil painting. Aage Bernhard-Frederiksen(1883-1963): ”Winter forest”

Description: ARTIST: Aage Bernhard-Frederiksen is a well-listed Danish artist, whose works have been offered at auctions (f.ex. Jackson’s and Bruun Rasmussen) multiple times and who was a regular exhibitor at the famous Charlottenborg. He was a member of 2 communities of artists – “Dyrehavens malere(painters of Dyrehaven, which is a scenic area north of Copenhagen) and “Nymindegabmalerne”(Nymindegab is an area in the western part of Jutland, which artists revered because of the special light, which occurred here during summer). He went to Dorph’s art school from 1902-1905 and embarked on study trips to Norway, France, Italy, Germany and Austria. He favors winter scenes and scenes from Skagen in the Northern-most part of Jutland. PAINTING: Oil on canvas. The painting is an impressionistic rendering of a deciduous forest covered in snow. To the left is a woodpile and in the background a few bushes still cling on to their orangey, withered leaves. I’ll date the painting to somewhere between 1930-1950. Signed: “B-F” in the lower right corner. SIZE: With frame: 39,5 cm/15.6" * 30 cm/11.8". Without frame: 31,5 cm/12.4” * 22 cm/8.7". CONDITION: The painting is in great ready-to-hang condition - no holes, tears or missing paint. The frame has scratches and stains.
