Description: This is a copy of a map of the town of Flint (with castle), Wales by John Speed and was initially printed in the 1600's. It measures 5.5" x 6.5". It is a book plate taken very carefully from a book of maps called "Tudor Townscapes The Town Plans from John Speeds Theatre of the Empire of Great Britain 1610" printed in 2000. It is in excellent condition and has been printed on good quality paper. Please note that the book this map was taken from was printed in 2000 and is NOT an original from 1610. The map is beautiful and the colours are vibrant. A description of the town as it was in the 1600's is included with the map. I have also added a small card showing the title of the map, the date it was printed and the name of the cartographer. John Speed’s maps were the first to show all the counties of Britain with towns, villages and boundaries as they were at the time as they were at the time of Elizabeth I. With the first known ‘aerial’ maps of towns, illustrations of battles, portraits of royalty, they are considered to be an elaborate work of art. I have a couple of these maps framed on my walls at home and can say with all honesty that they look fabulous! Please ask if you have any questions or want more information. It will be posted to you in a cardboard backed envelope. I have lots of other maps for sale and will combine postage prices if you wish to buy any others. Thank you
