Description: Offered here is a vintage LIGHT WEIGHT pith helmet. The front has a decal, which reads: "OFFICIAL...SOAP BOX DERBY...CHEVROLET." The helmet is lightweight, and does not seem like it would offer much in the way of protection. The condition is probably in the POOR to FAIR range. The inner headband is present, but is WELL WORN. There is a small PUNCTURE in the helmet on the decal - toward the top of the shield logo. (The puncture is shown, from inside and out, in close-ups with pencil point.) Also some scattered paint rubs and general wear. It still displays nicely. It does not have a date, but I would "GUESS" that this is from the 1950's - give or take.
