OOAK 1960's Mod Go Go Coco Twist N Turn Barbie By Mattel/Japan/Rooted Eyelashes

Description: This is a vintage 1966-1967 mod twist & turn (TNT) Barbie doll head on a standard, straight leg, non-twist waist, 1958 Barbie/Midge body. With that & some of her other modifications, she is technically, now a one of a kind (OOAK) doll! When I got this doll head, not only did she need a body, she also needed some TLC. Her hair had been chopped up, so I tried to do some blending, with some light layers & reshaped it into an inverted U shaped bob (bob line is a little longer in the front, than in back), with bangs. I also gave her a loose "perm" to help turn the ends of her hair under. Instead of giving her the original top knot ponytail with a bow, I gave her a pink satin headband, with a bow. I believe her hair color originally was Go Go Coco, but, with time, it has started to take on a reddish or titian cast from oxidation. On a side note, I tried to do some research to see what hair colors Mattel originally offered the TNT Barbie in; there were four colors: "Sun Kissed", "Summer Sand", "Go Go Coco" & "Chocolate Bon Bon". There seems to be some argument as to whether Titian was eventually added as a 5th color or not. If not, then what we have come to know as Titian or red hair color, was actually the light brown hair color, "Go Go Coco", which turned red from oxidation. Anyway, back to Bab's makeover. I also gave her partial facial repaint, since her eyes & brows had really faded over the years; as a result her eyes have that same side cast glance, but, now they appear a little larger & a little more intense...smoldering from her newly re-rooted eyelashes, darker, more defined, black eyeliner & the glittering purple eye shadow. Her lips & blush were also touched up. Considering this was my first attempt at any facial painting on a doll, (other than adding rooted lashes, that is), I have to say that I'm pretty happy with her final outcome! Additional flaws are as follows: Barbie does have a couple of pin pricks, on & near her ears, especially on the left side. I didn't notice them right away, so they are not really obvious & fortunately it doesn't appear that the dreaded green ear has started to set in. There are no other issues with her face, such as nose nips, neck splits, etc... Her body is in good condition, but it'snot without a few, fairly minor flaws, as well. She's stamped "Midge; Barbie; "1958 by Mattel Inc.; Patented" on her right butt cheek. It appears that "64" is stamped on her left butt cheek. "Japan" is stamped on the ball of her left foot.I'd say that thebiggest flaw, would be that a couple of toes on her right foot, appear to have been broken (?) off & there are, what appears to be some bite marks on her left hand. Her left arm is also pretty loose. She does have all of her fingers, with a little remaining nail polish. Aside from that & some surface scratching from being played with, I'd have to say she still has many years of modeling ahead of her!
