Description: Orban Optimod / Optimod-TV 6585 Surround Sound and 2.0 Audio Processor. Up for sale is a refurbished Optimod 6585. The 6585 is a 7.1/5.1 Surround Processor, or can be used as 4 independent 2.0 Channel Processors. That is right, this version can be used to process 4 Stereo/2.0 Sources, or 5.1/7.1 Surround. For 2.0/Stereo it is equivalent of having 4 Optimod 6300 Processors! Included in this sale is a set of Audio to SDI and SDI to Audio Converters (pictured). These will allow you to interface a pair of Analog Sources or 4 AES Sources to the processor via SDI, and also connect 2 Analog outputs (in addition to the onboard Analog Outputs) or upto 4 AES Outputs (in addition to the 3 onboard AES Outputs). Why use SDI? - There is a known bug in the software that requires the use of SDI signals. If no SDI signal is present the device will lock up. Orban is aware, but because of the age of this device they are not willing to correct it in software updates. This issue is NOT unique to this unit, it impacts all 6585 processors with the latest versions of firmware. If the SDI interfaces are connected to an SDI Source (even if not routed to processing) the device will not lock up. Please email if you have any questions or concerns, but I have run this processor with a SDI signal presented but not routed for 6+ months without any issues at all. You can still use onboard AES inputs and outputs, as long as a SDI signal is present on the SDI input (does not need to be assigned or routed). If you would like to remove the Blackmagic devices from the purchase I will reduce the price by $435. Front panel LED Bar Graphs have been replaced. Power supplies have been rebuilt as needed. Front panel has minor scratching due to use, and age - not excessive for the age. Because of the complexity of this processor Orban requires the use of the PC Software for full control access. Software is available for download free of charge from Orban's website.
