Founded in 1811, Astoria is the oldest city in the state of Oregon and was the first American settlement west of the Rocky Mountains. Astoria is located on the south shore of the Columbia River, where the river meets the Pacific Ocean. The city is named for John Jacob Astor, an investor from New York City whose American Fur Company founded Fort Astoria at the site.The print is very large (folio size), measuring approximately 11 x 15 inches (28 x 38 cm). The picture fills about half of it, measuring about 6 x 3.5 inches, with a caption below it. The page is in excellent condition for its age. There is text/photos on the back of the print.
