Description: >Offered here is an old and original 1941 Warner Bros. Studio easel-back portrait photo featuring movie actress GEORGIA CARROLL!! Please see all eight photos, as they are an important part of my description. From a local estate, this wonderful and vintage movie memorabilia features a black and white photograph (gelatin silver? not certain...) matted onto a thick cardboard easel-back display. This rare store display measures approximately 11" x 14", with the easel-back portion appearing "unused". At top, says "Georgia Carroll: Featured in Warner Bros.' "You're In The Army Now". Along the bottom edge, says "Wearing a STUDIO STYLES hat designed by Warner Bros. Studio". This display was most likely intended to be used in a lady's fashion store as a counter display, advertising their lady's hat offerings. The display's reverse lists the photographer as "Christy & Shepherd Studios", Sunset Boulevard in Hollywood, California (with an old phone number listed). <>History: Georgia Carroll was an American actress, singer and fashion model, best known for her work with Kay Kyser's big band orchestra in the mid-1940's (she eventually married Kyser). Carroll was born in Blooming Grove, Texas. Her acting career began in 1941 (the same year I believe this photo-display was issued), appearing in several small roles in films such as Maisie Was a Lady, Ziegfeld Girl as well as You're in the Army Now and Navy Blues. Carroll also appeared as Betsy Ross in the James Cagney classic musical Yankee Doodle Dandy. She also did modeling during this time, appearing in advertisements for Jewelite hairbrushes, among other products. Carroll joined Kay Kyser's band in 1943, and was given the nickname "Gorgeous Georgia Carroll". <>Condition: this vintage Hollywood movie memorabilia shows light, scattered insect damage from prior storage (see pics), but the piece still displays great!
