Description: Original antique lithographed view of the east side of Broadway, between Grand and Howard Streets, as it looked in 1840. In the foreground there are numerous horse-drawn carriages, coaches, and wagons, as well as individual riders and groups of pedestrians. The buildings depicted in the background include the Broadway House Hotel; Rondon's Fringe, Cord, Tassel & Fly Net Manufactory; Harrington & Co.; M. Robert's Half Way House; Tattersalls; Olympic Theatre; and the Patent Billiard Table Ware Room. This lithograph is titled View of Broadway, N.Y. between Howard & Grand Streets, 1840. The image area measures 15.8 x 31 cm [6¼"x 12¼"], and the printed inscription in the lower border reads "Lith. for D.T. Valentine's Manual, for 1861, by Geo. Hayward, 171 Pearl St., N.Y." Condition: It is in excellent condition, bright and clean, with no marks, rips or tears. There are three vertical folds, as issued, and there's some faint foxing in the outer margins.
