Description: Original 18th C English Watercolor Midlands/Derbyshire Landscape with Light House or Watch Tower This is a lovely watercolor, with hills, trees, shrubbery with a fenced path leading to a tower (possible light house?) at the top of a hill against a river or lake with a small town across the river/lake on the left; a typical image of the English countryside. I did some research and found some similar images of light houses and towers in Midlands and in Derbyshire, England. This watercolor is from circa 1780. The watercolor is on fine wove paper with a watermark . I have listed a drawing by the same hand of the same image. Measurements: 11 1/2 x 17 1/2 inches Condition: Good condition. Condition is commensurate with age and use. Minor curling and creasing on corners. Minor stains, minor tears. Pinholes all around border, was evidently previously framed.
