Description: SEVILLAFiestas De Primavera LIT. S. DURA - VALENCIAFRAMED Lovely flamenco dancer in her red dress, an iconic image. Beautiful image, reproduced over and over again but this seems very much to be an original illustration produced by Simeón Durá's publishing house in Valencia. According to The Library of Congress: "Simeón Durá's Playing Cards and Lithography Company was one of the most important businesses in Valencia. It flourished between 1871 and about 1940. The prestige of Durá's company went beyond the borders of Spain: he exported to Latin America, the Philippines, North America, and to some European countries....It also published advertising posters, in particular those for Valencian oranges. The Valencian Autonomous Community has a long-standing poster tradition that started with the arrival of the first posters in the 19th century." The paper to the naked eye absolutely seems to be of 1924 vintage. There is honest wear and age to it. Could be the cover of some large publication or a smaller sized poster, not certain (impossible to find an original for sale anywhere with which to compare, all just bright shiny reproductions). The illustration itself is about 14 x 10 inches and the frame is about 22 x 17.5 inches. Nicely framed up with an eye to color. Bought at a local auction some years back. Been hanging on our own wall but space is sorely needed so some good solid items being put up for sale in upcoming days including some original bullfighting posters. ******We ship with safety in mind. Thank you.
