Description: An original chromed hood ornament used on all Pontiac 6-cylinder Torpedo model cars manufactured in the solo year, 1941. This ornament is quite scarce, especially in such nice condition. It was made by the Ternstedt Manufacturing Company in Detroit, Michigan. It was cast in zinc alloy and then chrome-plated. The maker’s marks include the Ternstedt circular casting stamp & ‘USA T-29814 11-4-1940’. The last series of numbers show the date it was manufactured, i.e., November 4, 1940. It is ~14” long. This original 1941 hood ornament is in very good to excellent condition. Overall, just a great looking addition to your restored ‘41 Pontiac or hood ornament collection. The ornament is straight and solid - not bent, broken or repaired. The face and ‘side wings’ look very nice. The chrome is deep (not thin) and has a beautiful shine. The dark areas seen in some of the photos are due to reflection and/or shadows captured during photography. There are a couple of very small chips, some flecks, scratches and light bubbling of the chrome and so it is not perfect. Nevertheless, it is still a very nice example of an original ‘41 Pontiac mascot. The two mounting bolts (10-24) are intact and the threads work well. Please look at all of the photos closely to determine condition for yourself and ask any questions before bidding or BIN purchase. I am happy to answer them and to provide additional photos on request. The ornament is quite heavy and will be shipped via USPS Ground Advantage. This hood ornament is being sold as is. Sorry, no returns. Thanks for looking!
