Description: This original piece was painstakingly crafted by Carlos Quinto Kemm. It is a paper collage in three dimensions. Each layer is separated to provide a depth of field. It measures 12" x16" and is matted and installed in a 23" x 27" ash frame. Signed by the artist Since 1980, Carlos Quinto Kemm has been exploring the medium of painted dimensional collage, working within the Visionary/Magic Realist/Surrealist tradition. Themes of emergence and self realization are central to his body of work. “For myself the creation of painted dimensional collages has long been a seedbed for the exploration of self awareness and the growth of creative imagination.” Carlos recently completed a one year fellowship funded by the Roswell Artist in Residence grant. Kemm’s work has been featured in numerous articles and books including Contemporary Art in New Mexico by Jan Adlmann and Barbara McIntyre; Art in America, Visions Art Quarterly, and Santa Fe Fantasy (ed. Elmo Baca). Kemm’s work has been exhibited both nationally and internationally. His works are included in the permanent collections of : Museum of Fine Arts, Santa Fe, NM; Albuquerque Museum of Art; Capital Arts Collection, Santa Fe, NM; Roswell Museum and Art Center; Anderson Museum of Contemporary Art, Roswell, NM; and in many notable private collections.
