Framed in an impressive gold painted frame.Pauline Bliss Williams, also known as Mrs. Ronald Croft, was born in Springfield, Massachusetts. She re-located to New York City and studied at the Art Students League where she took classes with Robert Henri, Vincent DuMond, F. Louis Mora, and George Bellows. Well known as a lecturer, illustrator and designer, Williams specialized in bright and impressionistic landscapes, portraits, still-lifes, and highly detailed miniatures, painted on a variety of materials including canvas, ivory and porcelain. She exhibited widely from her home and studio in Rockport, Massachusetts, with exhibitions at the Society of Independent Artists, the National Association of Women Artists, the Pennsylvania Society of Miniature Painters, the National Society of Mural Painters, the Brooklyn Society of Miniature Painters, and the Springfield, Massachusetts Art Guild. She is listed in a number of standard reference works on American artists including Mantle Fielding’s Dictionary of American Painters, Sculptors and Engravers, Who Was Who in American Art, and in The Dictionary of Women Artists.
