He was a participant in World War I, and later became a general. In addition, he was engaged in walking, fencing, and was the president of the Athletics Union. Miloslav Fassati's father, Ludvík Fassati (1858-1933), was the holder of the Cavaliere title, awarded to him by King Viktor Emanuel III. The letters are mostly addressed to his father Ludvík and are mostly written in Czech, German and Russian. Miloslav Fassati signed himself as "M" and "Milouš" in most letters.
