Description: An original WW2 British map of "BIR EL ADEM" AERODROME, a former Italian airbase just 10 miles South of TOBRUK which was captured during OPERATION COMPASS. It was produced in May 1941 during the WESTERN DESERT CAMPAIGN with revisions from earlier aerial reconnaissance photographs. Ink stamps in the lower margin show that it was officially retained as a 'UNIQUE COPY' at the British War Office's 'GSGS Map Room', before later being 'SUPERSEDED'. Measures 30.5cm x 20.5cm.
