Oxygen is used in small amounts as an addition to other gases in welding applications; typically, as 2-5% addition to argon. It enhances arc stability and reduces the surface tension of the molten metal, increasing wetting of the solid metal. These are thick-walled top-quality steel construction cylinders, finished in rust-resistant paints, black, red, or grey paint for acetylene, and green for oxygen. Both cylinders are DOT/TC approved with fresh certification dates within 180 days of shipment. Heavy-duty steel acetylene tank is painted a tough, rust-resistant Black, Red, or Grey Paint, while the heavy-duty steel oxygen tank is painted a tough, rust-stop green. Both cylinders ship empty.
