Past Patterns 0706 - 1850s Petticoat & Drawers Sewing Pattern bust sizes 32-47

Description: Past Patterns PP#07061850s Petticoat and Drawers Sewing Pattern This 1850s Petticoat and Drawers sewing pattern is an original Past Patterns design★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★The Petticoat, Drawers and embroidered Chemise (the Chemise is our item#0707) were part of the trousseau of Charlotte Larch. The fortunate appearance of these related garments provides us with a reasonable guideline for breadth and length of the different pieces when worn together. Throughout the nineteenth century, drawers were generally two tubes that frequently overlapped at the front and were either set into a waistband. The petticoat that is derived from our sewing pattern is a typical gathered one, set into a waistband which is buttoned in the back. The original size was worn over a small, 70" to 90" hoop. To wear it over a larger hoop, 135" and up, simply cut two of the back panel. The fabric to use today to imitate the original is a medium-weight, high thread-count white cotton sheeting.★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★The pattern is Multi-Sized ranging from 08-26Sizes 08 Bust 32” Waist 24 ½” Hips 34 ½”Sizes 10 Bust 33 ½” Waist 25 ½” Hips 35 ½”Sizes 12 Bust 34 3/4” Waist 27” Hips 37”Sizes 14 Bust 36 ¼” Waist 28 ½” Hips 38 ½”Sizes 16 Bust 37 ¾” Waist 30 ¼” Hips 40”Sizes 18 Bust 39 ¼” Waist 32 ¼” Hips 42”Sizes 20 Bust 41” Waist 34 ¼” Hips 44”Sizes 22 Bust 43” Waist 36 ¼” Hips 46”Sizes 24 Bust 45” Waist 38 ¼” Hips 48”Sizes 26 Bust 47” Waist 40 ¼” Hips 50”★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★YARDAGE REQUIRED 45” FABRIC:Petticoat (original width)Sizes 08-14 3 3/8 YdsSizes 16-20 3 5/8 YdsSizes 22-26 3 7/8 Yds Petticoat (wider width – cut with 2 panels)Sizes 08-14 4 1/2 YdsSizes 16-20 4 3/4 YdsSizes 22-26 5 1/8 Yds DrawerSizes 08-14 2 1/2 YdsSizes 16-20 2 7/8 YdsSizes 22-26 3 1/8 Yds FABRICS:White cotton sheeting, white high thread count cotton muslin and fine white broadcloth. We do this with the hope that people will start creating and wearing reproductions instead of antique originals. The clothes we wear and that our grandparents wore are part of our cultural history. Just as you would not abuse antiques furniture by cutting off decorative trim, so you should not abuse antique garments by wearing them. Our second goal is that you pick up a little bit of history when you sew the garment. The fit, the cut, the fasteners, the fabric design, just to mention a few things, are part to the technology of the time. Our third goal, in sewing the patterns, is to spark an interest in genealogy and local history. Researching local history is always a rewarding pursuit. SKU 0706 Thanks for looking!
