Description: VINTAGE 1980S - HIGH QUALITY LIMITED SERIES - AUTHORIZED PRINT LARGE FORMAT - COLLECTOR'S PIECE "SUNGLASSES" - MIRAGE EDITIONS NC15 SPECIAL SILVER REFLECTIVE OVERLAY Patrick Nagel, American artist and illustrator (1945 - 1984) best known for his work in Playboy and the cover art for Duran Duran's Rio album. With one of the most iconic and recognizable styles in 1980s art, Nagel made his first poster image for Mirage Editions, Santa Monica, CA, in 1977. This poster is from 1983, part of the famous "Nagel Women" collection. It depicts the classic Nagel subject, wearing sunglasses, with arms outstretched, and a shawl or wrap across her shoulders. This version is toned in cool grey (background), burgundy (wrap and lips) and black (hair and outlining.) ***Special feature -- the lenses of her sunglasses have a reflective silver foil overlay, due to a special printing technique. Black bar across bottom with indicia and copyright date. Signed in plate on lower left - NOT HANDSIGNED. Professionally framed (narrow black metal) with glass. No mat - print fills the frame. Dimensions: 34" x 23" x 1" - approximately 9 lbs. Paper label on backing cardboard from Billy Hork Galleries in Chicago, IL - no COA. Label glue has deteriorated - affixed with a small piece of tape. It looks like the framer (?) may have handsigned and stamped the backing board above the label - definitely NOT the artist's signature. Wired for hanging. Overall condition details: Print is clear and vibrant, colors not faded. Paper does not show any wrinkles, discoloration, watermarking, or other damage. Silver overlay is intact and shiny. Paint on frame has small scratches/chips consistent with age - no dents etc in metal, corners in good condition. Glass is intact - no cracks. ***There are 2 small insects under the glass near left edge of the print. Buyer could open the frame to remove, if desired.
