Description: This is a custom 12" figure commemorating an American folk hero of American history, Paul Bunyan. The story goes that Paul Bunyan was a giant lumberjack. He often shared adventures with his giant blue ox, Babe. The story of Paul Bunyan originated from stories shared in North American logging camps. Paul Bunyan grew more popular after William B. Laughead used Paul Bunyan on some promotional material in 1916 for the Red River Lumber company. Laughead was an advertising man that put material together featuring a picture of a bigger than life lumberjack and added some stories of his own to the folklore stories he had heard. One such story credits the creation of the 10,000 lakes in Minnesota to Paul Bunyan and Babe tramping around leaving giant footprints. The footprints filled with water..... Laughead is also credited with actually naming Bunyan's giant blue ox, "Babe". As Paul Bunyan's popularity grew so did the tall tales. Bunyan was said to have been responsible for the creation of the Grand Canyon by dragging his giant ax behind him as he walked. Paul Bunyan's popularity caused his likeness to be used in giant statues in many places in North America. Paul Bunyan is a fun piece of folklore and legend along the lines of John Henry and Pecos Bill. Figure designed mainly for display purposes for the old West or history fan. While this figure is not quite as articulate as some of my figures, it displays nicely. This would make a nice addition to any collection. Please Note- while this figure does not look exactly like Paul Bunyan, there is a bit of a resemblance. sold as is. stand included. Please note the following-when a figure is a custom figure that means it is not a licensed product,or "official" but something the customizer did by combining figures and accessories from different makers and toy releases to come up with the custom figure or figures. I started customizing figures a few years back because I couldn't find more than a handful of "official" releases and unable to find figures of people I wanted to collect. I checked in to the market of custom figures. Most of the custom figures available back then cost several hundred dollars, so, I started doing my own. Because I needed to support my new hobby, I started selling some custom figures. My prices reflect my acquisition cost, time involved, and some profit. Thanks for the look, have fun shopping!Shipping and Handling as follows: Domestic-priority mail- $15.00 1st item, $8.00 each additional item. items are normally shipped out within a day or two of cleared payment.
