Originally, Club Sandwich that was mailed out a few times a year to members of the Wings Fun Club. Wings Fun Club kept fans privy to lots of cutting edge information about Paul and Linda, even allowing members free tickets to concerts and exclusive engagements. The first ClubSandwich issue was published in 1977. The whole concept of Club Sandwich was Paul and Linda’s idea. At the time, they wanted to produce a fan magazine/newspaper that was different and original. From 1977-1998 Club Sandwich was the main place to read the inside stories about Paul and Linda's very wide range of projects: not just their music but also LIPA, the cookbooks, the Art films, the orchestral works, etc. The paper changed size many times in the early years and was later renamed The Paul McCartney Fun Club. The newspaper guaranteed high pictorial content — not just in numbers but in size with full-page shots in every issue. Its chief photographer and picture editor was always Linda McCartney. Many of her shots appeared exclusively in Club Sandwich and nowhere else.
