After much research, I realized that this piece was probably fashioned after a late 19th century Chinese export called Famille Rose Diminutive Altar Fruit 'peach' box. The original pieces go for over $600.00. I also believe this piece was made in China according to my research, but I don't know for sure. I really like the piece alot and I hope you do also. Just remember that it shouldn't be used for 'food'. It is traditional in China to put fruit on an altar during ceremonies to sustain the ancestors or deities.
