The signal box houses a 180 lever frame and since 2011 is the largest operational manual signal box in the world. Although only half of the levers are now operational it is likely to remain in operation till 2050 because of the cost of new signalling and automatic point operation systems. The signal box was recognised as being of historical and architectural merit by Cadw with a listing at grade II in 1991. The Abbey Church of the Holy Cross can also be seen in the background.
