Tyre replacement on roller itself is a straightforward job.However please ensure you are capable of completing this repair before proceeding. We recommend consulting service manual for your model before proceeding. Removal and refitting of the pinch roller on Tandberg recorders must be done carefully, ensuring all washers are removed and refitted correctly.Once reinstalled, pinch roller azimuth should be checked / adjusted according to the service manual for your model.You will need:· A sharp knife, such as a Stanley knife or craft knife· Acetone or other suitable solvent cleaner· Cleaning cloth such as an old piece of towel· Suitable gloves (acetone proof)· Dishwashing detergent· Small amount of oil to lubricate on reassembly-----1. Remove the pinch roller from your machine. Please consult appropriate service manual for your model.2. Using the knife, cut away as much of the old rubber as you can from the metal hub3. Using a solvent such as acetone, clean any remaining remnants of rubber away from the hub. Always work in a well ventilated area when working with acetone, and wear suitable gloves. Take some time to ensure that the metal surface of the hub is perfectly clean before moving to the next step.4. Type 1: Immerse the new rubber tyre in to some water with a little dishwashing detergent mixed in, and wet the outside of the hub with same. This will assist the tyre to slide in to place, without binding and causing lateral tensionPlace the hub horizontally on a flat surface, and press the tyre smoothly but firmly down on to the hub. Make sure the edges line up neatly and evenly on both sides.6. Dry the outside with a clean cotton cloth, or allow to air dryType 2: Turn tyre inside out. Hold the edge of the tyre firmly against edge of the roller hub, and flip the tyre back to correct orientation so it wraps around the hub. Roll the pinch roller between two flat surfaces to ensure tyre is seated evenly around hub.5.
