This block of wood was cut, wheels spaced and axle holes precisely drilled. We even created a pocket for you to add weight on the bottom.A wood chopping axe, who wouldn't like this. The hard part has already been done. Now use your creativity to alter, sand, and paint the car. You can have the coolest car at the derby. You'll need to add weight to this car to get it as close to 5 ounces as you can. Carefully install your wheels & axles. This could be a really fast car depending on how it's done.Please read entire listing for important information.You and your youngster can have the coolest cars at the Derby. Many Cub Scout Packs have a parent division for racing cars too. Our pack did and it really was fun for me, a parent, constructing a legal cool car to race in the parents division and even better yet if it wins, “for bragging rights”. You and your young one can both have cars that stand out from the rest of the crowd. When you get your Derby Car kit at the pack meeting, just substitute this wooden vehicle for the one in the package. The wheel wells have been cut out and properly installed wheels will not rub anywhere on the body except the hub where every car does. Design note: If you can, design your truck to roll on just three of its four wheels, less friction means a faster car! Polish up those axles! Trust me on this, it does work! All of these vehicles weigh in at or less than 4.6 ounces. Keep in mind if your car is at 4.6 ounces you could just add your wheels & axles and be of legal weight at 5 ounces, running down the track.You will receive the wooden vehicle like what’s in the photo, You may want to cut, change, sand, and paint the car to your specifications. The vehicle you receive may not be the one in the photo and may not be a perfect piece of pinewood. It may have a knot or cut line that needs to be sanded. If you’re unhappy with what we send, let us know and we’ll try to make it right. Remember this is all for fun! No Wheels or Axles are included.Please note, some Cub Scout packs are stricter than others on derby cars. All of our vehicles are under the BSA maximum size of 2.75” wide, 7” long and 3” tall. You will have to ensure that your car is 5 ounces or under when finished. These cars have axle holes not slots like the official BSA blocks. These are not official BSA derby cars, not meant to be...but just a usable neat alternative. Before buying any car from us, check with your pack to see if these are allowed in your Pinewood Derby Race. These were allowed in our pack #354 and most all other packs from the Northern Star District of Minnesota and Wisconsin. Remember these are designed for fun. These are not cheater cars. These are just a neat alternative to the BSA block of wood. These cars are no wider than the BSA block of wood with the wheels attached. They may look wider but they are not. They will fit and run on any official BSA track. We'll send this out via USPS First Class Mail quickly at Post Office cost. Two vehicles, same or different, in the same box, will ship at First Class prices. Three or more cars are over a pound and then I have to send them via Priority Mail. You can mix or match any of our vehicles. My son's and I don't want or intend to make money on shipping. The price covers the shipping box and postage we are charged.
