Description: Rare precious mixed metals ore slab with two cut faces and natural edges. Platinum's, silver and gold specimen from the 1800s Ore Knob Copper Mine North Carolina. Photos show edge filings setting in muriatic and nitric combined silver, 14 K, 18 K, 22 K and platinum testing acids after several minutes, (15 + minutes), after a very small amount of dissolving you can see the results in the photos Almost pure metal with a small amount of gold seen but gold ghosting in it as well. It does have a very, very weak magnetic pull using a very strong magnet, will not stick to it. There is tarnishing after a period of time. High ping with a metal detector indicator. Fresh cut at the time of the listing and it has been lightly hand polishing on the cuts with no coatings. Heavy about 3 lbs. 6-1/2 inches x 3-1/4 inches x 3/4 inch, measurements from the longest points of the shape with an even thickness mostly, a little thicker on one end. There is a yellow coloration in the platinum testing acid when cleaning the testing stone that was noted. Rare historical North Carolina registered mine that no longer produces, history can be found online using most search engines. Very limited supplies of specimens from this mine. Super deals on some ores while they last can be found on my E Bay store.
