Description: Plutarch's Complete Works (Lives, Essays, and Miscellanies) 6 Vols 3/4 Leather Edition De Luxe Good for the age. There is no date, but I am guessing around 1900. Volume 1 has its leather split along the front edge of the spine (see last Photos). Volume 1 and 6 are missing pieces at the top of the spine, and the other 4 volumes all show show wear at the top of the spine. Translation seem to be by Langhorne (lives) and Trench (essays), but it is not stated. Gilt top. The binding are sewn. There are no broken spines of hinges, and I found no names or writing in the text. Though the Lives are common to find, it is very rare to come across an antique copy of the Essays.
