AUCTIONING ONE NEW WOODEN TENOR-BASS FLAT-FORM POCKET SERPENT FINGERHOLE HORN handmade by the well-known instrument maker Scott F. Hall in 2024--THE MOUTHPIECE IS NOT INCLUDED. You must provide your own small shank trombone mouthpiece. A short internal bocal tube is included--this will attach to the small shank mouthpiece that you provide (note: the input is a half-inch across, so you can employ larger shank mouthpieces by leaving out the bocal tube). Each horn, brush painted twice and then externally clearcoat spray-lacquered multiple times, was handmade by Hall himself in woodworm-resistant poplar. There are six comfortable, ergonomically-located finger holes and an innovative rectalinear bore which flares rapidly and widely. This horn will easily perform for any decent low brass player--it works especially well as a compact platform for a serpent player in C or Bb practicing tunes with certain preferred fingerings (in other words, fingerings to be applied to this horn are variable). This is not a historical copy, so you should approach it in the interest of freely exploring a completely original fingerhole tenor-bass horn--it has a sound all its own. To make one requires multiple days of Hall's labor, so they are rare and can be hard to obtain. Each of Scott F. Hall's instruments, like any painting or sculpture, is a unique original which holds his personal attention from start to finish.
