Description: Offered here is " The Poetic Edda " by Henry Adams Bellows, published by The American-Scandinavian Foundation in 1968. This edition is comprised of two volumes in one: volumes XXI and XXII of The Scandinavian Classics. This copy is translated from the Icelandic into English, with an introduction and notes. This pre-owned hardcover book is in Very Good condition. The maroon cloth-colored boards have an insignia on the cover and gilt titles to the spine. The spine shows some wear and bumping to its head and tail. The spine also has a subtle 1/4-inch bump near the title and is sun faded. Edge wear includes mild rubbing to the corners and bottom edges. In addition, the corners show slight bumping. There are a few tiny light marks on boards. The rounded book block is sun tanned (more so on the fore edge) with some foxing to the top block, and some staining on the bottom corner's edge (2mm x 1/2-in) . The hinge is cracking, but holding at the left front paste-down and the RFFE. The RFFE has sticker from the previous owner in the top corner. An embossed stamp from the previous owner's library appears on the title page. All other pages are clean and unmarked, though mildly age-tanned around the edges. The book is slightly musty.
