Description: Twenty years ago, I could only dream of calling myself an artist. Back then, it felt more like a distant aspiration than a tangible reality. Today, that dream is alive, and I proudly embrace my role as creator, infusing my work with the essence of my upbringing.Having grown up surrounded by sheet metal workers, running around fabrication shops, I find joy in transforming raw materials into art. My pieces reflect this rich heritage, harmonizing craftsmanship with artistic vision. My story didn’t start in an art school; it kicked off as a Seahawks fan, with a stainless-steel football given to me by my grandfather. Through my collaborations with the Seahawks, Make-A-Wish Foundation Alaska &Washington, and Amazon, what began with asking Jerry Rice for an autograph in2004 blossomed into a series of meaningful projects that celebrate the best inhumanity.In2020, at my home on Alki Point there was a wall longing for a piece of art. I experimented with different methods and materials until the day inspiration struck, when I realized exactly how I would construct what I had envisioned. Most importantly, the circles needed to be true. The circle is a sacred shape that transcends cultures and time. It is, to a certain extent, the oldest of all symbols. The rules of the cosmic and atomic structure of many natural phenomena are based on the circular form. This alone is a good enough reason to understand the power of the symbol of the circle. In ancient Chinese philosophy, the circle embodies the duality of the Yin and Yang, illustrating the constant dance between opposing forces in nature. These hand-cut steel rings are meticulously welded together, powder-coated, and individually painted.Upon installation, I fell in love with the shadows the piece cast. I found them to be a very pleasant surprise, adding depth, dimension, and character, becoming a perfect complement to the design. By accentuating the interplay between light and the fixed elements of the artwork, a sense of spirit and engagement is channeled for the viewer. When I look at these circles, I see a common thread found in all my works: people. I see sound. I see energy, the universe, and interconnectedness. I see light and dark, growth and constant change. I see a piece of art that I can wholeheartedly claim as my own. I see a creation I would like to share with others who resonate with its beauty.Available in any size and any color combination, you are invited to create a world that captivates your wonder. What do you see?
