Description: Two-Piece Navy Cap Button 1840’s-1850’s Description: Nice two-piece Navy button with an eagle on a lined field facing right on top of an upright anchor. This one has a rope border with 13 stars encircling the eagle. It has a tin back with an iron floating shank that bends to one side. These little buttons date to the 1840’s-1850’s and were more than likely worn on Navy caps. This example appears to have a double face. You can see another sheet of brass under the outer button face!
