Star Premiere - Hollywood is host to the world's most eagerly anticipated film premiere which takes place when Warner's "A Star Is Born" debuts at the RKO Pantages Theatre. Judy Garland and James Mason star in "A Star Is Born," a Transcona Enterprises production in CinemaScope and Technicolor, which also stars Jack Carson and Charles Bickford. George Cukor directed the picture and Sidney Luft produced for Warner Bros. presentation. Setting a number of precedents in premiere history, besides attracting a record number of more than 250 stars and celebrities, it is the first film premiere telecast coast to coast; first to provide a working press room; first to have a special announcer, actor James Brown, to announce star arrivals exclusively for the bleacher and street crowds.
