Description: This is a rare signed letter sent from producer LAURENCE SCHWAB on September 2nd, 1938 to actor MONTY WOOLLEY in response to a conversation with composer COLE PORTER regarding the upcoming Broadway musical "KNIGHTS OF SONG". Mr. Woolley was being considered for a role in the musical and had wired Cole Porter in an effort to get his hands on a script. Mr. Laurence let him know that the script was in the hands of NIGEL BRUCE and that he should request it from him ..... MONTY WOOLLEY would be cast in the role of "His Royal Highness, Albert Edward, Prince of Wales" in the short-lived Original Broadway production of the GLENDON ALLVINE Musical Excursion Into the Lives of Gilbert and Sullivan, "KNIGHTS OF SONG" which would open October 17th, 1938 at the Fifty-First Street Theatre in New York City. (The production opened October 17th, 1938 and closed October 29th, 1938 after only sixteen performances.) ..... CONDITION: With the exception of heavy creasing, this rare correspondence is in excellent condition and will make a wonderful addition to the collection of any musical theatre aficionado or historian.
