GENERAL INFO A fun and unique model from my collection- the Sony Walkman WM-EX631! released in 2002, it was one of the final & most popular models in Sony's elite 'WM-EX' series, and is notable for its unusual speed control feature. This unit has been fitted with a custom-made transparent cover, giving it an awesome, completely unique aesthetic and allowing you to marvel at the intricate mechanism and your beautiful mixtape. Featuring a fully logic controlled mechanism with auto-reverse, automatic track skip and blank-skip based on Sony's best chassis, this premium Walkman is a very cool (and practical) option for those looking for a high-quality, offline, portable music player without the distraction of a smartphone. The mechanism has been fully serviced, calibrated, demagnetised and rebuilt by myself, and fitted with a new DeckTech belt. TECHNICAL DETAILS Cosmetic condition: Mint - Newly made acrylic exterior with no obvious marks. - Internal circuit board has been thoroughly cleaned of any markings or flux residue to give it a factory-new shine. - The motor spindle has been polished for an extra-clean look. - Unique and interesting design, with an attractive colour scheme. Mechanical condition: Excellent - Plays as it did when new. Excellent clear, balanced sound quality. - Doesn't contain any electrolytic capacitors in the audio electronics, and is built to last far longer than a traditional Walkman Head condition (Sensitivity at 315hz) -------| Reverse side L:-0.4db |------- -------| Reverse side R:-0.5db |------------------------------------------------------------------------- -------| Forward side R:-0.0db |------- -------| Forward side L:-0.5db |------- A high number is good, but more consistent is best. Battery life: Very Good - Around 35 hours (1400mah gumstick battery) - This model uses slim 'gumstick' batteries. These aren't included, but can be found newly-made online for cheap. Search ebay for 'gumstick battery' (such as Doublepow, nicjoy, jinmasi, etc.) Compatibility: - Will play all tape types - Supports compatible Walkman remote controls (Not included. See infocard for details) - Will run up to 8-300ohm headphones. Powers my Sennheiser HD-600 (300 ohms) very loud, without any issues. Colour legend: Excellent | Very good | Good | Fair | Poor Features: - Auto reverse Plays both sides of the tape automatically (Press Play during playback to change sides) - Automatic track skipping (20x speed, 9 tracks) Will automatically search for and play the next/previous song on a tape (FF/REW during playback) - Full logic control Computerised solenoid-based mechanism control - Repeat Repeats the current song indefinitely (Hold down Play during playback) - Speed control Adjust the speed of the playback by +/- 20%! - Cue/Review Plays a live feed of the tape as it's rewinding (Hold FF/REW during playback) - Hold Disables all button inputs when this is triggered - Blank skip Will automatically skip any blank sections at the end of a tape - Megabass/Groove Enhances Bass - Revive Enhances treble - AVLS Lowers volume automatically to protect hearing If there are any issues with this Walkman within the first month, I'll fix it for free.
