Volume with heel of spine softened, faint offset to feps from jacket flaps, text block edges a little toned with tiny amount of scattered foxing, vintage bookseller's tag to front pastedown. Unclipped DJ with some toning to edges and light edge wear, a vertical rub to spine panel and a small one inch by quarter inch chip from top edge of back panel - not affecting any text. Near Fine / Just About Near Fine. Michener's first published book and winner of the Pulitzer Prize for fiction in 1948. Tales of the South Pacific tells through a collection of stories, about American sailors living and working in the Pacific Theater during W.W.II. Later produced both on stage and made into a film of the same name. This first Australian edition has same great John O'Hara Cosgrave II DJ artwork as the US first edition. Ref.
