Description: This 1983 British import stereo album from the L'Oiseau-Lyre label of Decca Records (DSDL 713) features a 1982 performance of Songs and Airs by Henry Purcell. Featured performers include Emma Kirkby (soprano) accompanied on period instruments by Christopher Hogwood (organ and spinet), Anthony Rooley (lute), Richard Campbell (viola) and Catherine Mackintosh (violin). Album notes are in English, French and German, along with a large (album-sized) six-page trifold booklet with discussion of the work by Richard Luckett, plus full lyrics. Also included is a 2-sided photocopy of reviews of the album in issues of The Gramophone from September, 1983 and April, 1984. The outer sleeve shows a small collection index sticker in the upper right corner of the back.
