Description: Plate of Gemmy Purple Fluorite from Blackdene Mine, Weardale, Country Durham, England, UK Dimensions: 19x9x4 cm Here is a good sized and truly lovely plate of very gemmy purple fluorite cubes from the famous and now historic Blackdene Mine in Weardale, Country Durham, England, UK. The specimen is coated by calcite on the rear, presumably forming once this piece had detached from the vein. The piece was acquired from the now closed London dealership of Gregory, Bottley and Lloyd. The Blackdene Mine produced commercial fluorspar from the Slitt Vein throughout much of the mid-20th century but was fully abandoned in 1987 and is now inaccessible. ShippingItem will be dispatched same or next day, after payment is received. Shipping is normally by Royal Mail but I may need to use other couriers in the UK at times. I prefer to use the eBay global shipping programme for international orders as this is simple for both parties, but feel free to message me for other international shipment methods. Shipping is charged as per the service rate.
