Quaint Original Mission Arts & Crafts Heavy Quarter Sawn Oak Stool C. 1890-1910 Constructed of heavy Mission Quarter Sawn Oak (tiger oak), with solid corbeled side supports box braced interior( also in mission oak) and early mission period round head fasteners. Incredible original shape for 114-135 years of age. Squat quaint design with corbel shapes, chamfered top, splayed key hole cut outs and a complete quarter sawn oak construction with the distinctive ‘tiger stripe’. Condition is excellent for its age. Shows antiquity well. All the small dings and dents and separations of time. Stool is extremely sturdy and may be used as foot and leg support as designed or as a step up. At the buyers discretion and utility of course. Note, I do not know if it has been manufactured or folk art, but I can say it is extremely well constructed!
