Our understanding in research is that Hookers Fruit was designed by William Hooker (1785-1865) who was a botanist and also an illustrator. The Horticultural Society commissioned him to paint fruit portraits in 1815 to authenticate different variety names. Featuring a stunning hookers fruit pattern in a glossy finish, these 6 3/8 inches round plates are perfect for all occasions. These particular plates are 1 apple, 1 pear, 1 black cherry. Made in India in what is believed to be post 1990s timeframe of manufacture for these particular plates. Note also that these plates as noted on the Backstamp are “Fine Bone China” which is a more luxurious step up verses “Bone China”. These plates are limited edition and stackable for easy storage. The set includes 3 bread plates with a printed backstamp and is an original product line from Queen's The Royal Horticultural Society Collection.
