Our understanding in research is that Hookers Fruit was designed by William Hooker (1785-1865) who was a botanist and also an illustrator. The Horticultural Society commissioned him to paint fruit portraits in 1815 to authenticate different variety names. Featuring a stunning hookers fruit pattern in a glossy finish, this oval dish is a generous yet practical size at 1.25 QT or 5 cups, 12 3/4 inches long and 8 1/2 inches wide perfect for all occasions. Made in Thailand as noted on the Backstamp in what is believed to be post 1990s timeframe of manufacture. This dish is limited edition collectible too.
