He created many beautiful and unique pieces of Jewelry in sterling silver and gold plated metal which were popular in for many years, but the 1940’s pieces were most well known. DeRosa brand is known for its three-dimensional layered designs, high-quality components, translucent enameling, and unusual color combinations. Many of his pieces were finished with an enamel coating. For your consideration a magnificent fur pin/Brooch and matching earrings created by Ralph DeRosa CIRCA 1940’s. This collector's item is mega rare and a family heirloom of museum quality. The bidding starts relatively low and there is a reasonable Buy It Now price. You may also contact me to negotiate a price.This exquisitely beautiful set is one of his most well-known designs and dated 1940’s. The fur pin and earrings are made of is gold plated metal. The surface of the strawberries is coated with an opaque coat of red enamel while the leaves are coated with a translucent coat of olive green enamel. The strawberries seeds are invisibly set tiny ice clear crystals. The edge of the leaves on the fur clip are pavé with invisible set ice clear crystals. The earrings fit with etched triangle lever clip backs. The pin is signed "R. DeRosa". The earrings are unsigned.Dimensions & Weight: The pieces are all substantially heavy and the brooch/fur pin weighs 66 grams and each earring weighs 12 grams.The fur pin is a massive 3 dimensional piece and measures 4 ¼”L top to bottom x 2 ¾”W across widest point x 1”H. The earrings each measure 1 ¼”L x ¾”W x ⅝”H.Condition: This is pre-owned vintage costume jewelry. It has been stored in a dust free and temperature controlled environment for over 6 decades. Before that it was gently worn. It is well preserved in it's original condition without any restoration. It was purchased from an estate sale of the original owner’s private collection in Manhattan, New York in 1960’s.All the tiny stones are original, and still sparkly, none missing or darkened. There is some age related wear of the enameled surface. One earring has a tiny spot where the enamel has been chipped off. It is hardly noticeable and does not show when being worn. It is not distracting or unsightly. I think it adds to the vintage charm. The gold plating on both earrings and the pin is fairly clean with minor surface wear and some tarnish. The pins of the fur clip are sturdy, sharp and the hinge is still taunt and holds the heavy pin securely anchored to the garment when being worn. The earring backs are also clean and fit snug. PLEASE REMEMBER, THAT MOST VINTAGE PIECES ARE FRAGILE DUE TO AGE and should be gently worn and handled with care.NOTE: These are part of my personal collection of vintage designer costume jewelry. It has been in storage for years and may need a small amount of cleaning. Most of my vintage pieces have been gently worn, a few are unworn.
